Hi everyone and welcome to my blog for all things life and style in Northern Ireland.

My name is Sarah Bryden, I’m in my late twenties and I live in the North West. My background is in journalism and I love to write. I also have a passion for photography. For the past four years I have been working in the arts sector doing mainly PR, Communications, and Education Development.

I’ve been writing for years in my spare time, creatively and as a freelancer, and I’ve toyed with the idea of a blog for some time but was never brave enough to try it until now.

One day, the word ‘style’ stuck in my mind. What does it mean? For me, style isn’t just about the hottest trend in fashion and beauty, it’s eclectic, it’s rich and it’s personal to each of us. Style is in everything, it can mean different things to different people and this blog won’t dictate what’s ‘hot’, ‘cool’ or ‘in’, it will be an insight into my personal take on the style in my life. I will write about my life and style in Northern Ireland as well as thoughts or little pieces of writing that I’d like to share.

My influences are diverse-

The classic timeless fashion and beauty of Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn, whilst enjoying a pinch of glam a la Kylie Minogue and Sarah Jessica Parker, and sometimes mixing it up with some rock chic style like Alexa Chung and Debbie Harry, then add in some eclectic spice such as Selma Blair or Chloe Sevigny.

The same eclectic taste goes for my love of film, art, events, and interior design. The revival of vintage and retro style seems to be dominating but I’m also drawn to the modern and the innovative.

I guess this blog will develop over time and I might find that a particular interest will rise above the others but for now, it’s an experiment for me- to write regularly, to find a voice and to express myself…one I hope people will enjoy reading.

Thanks for reading and I hope that you enjoy my posts.

i already love your blog after having read only this introduction!
how exciting to meet someone with the same fashionably intellectual interests of old film, fashion, and sarah jessica parker!!!
and, i’m irish, too! :) xx

hi! i really wanted to comment upon “matrimonial muffin tops” because i think it’s an excellent piece! but i don’t think that your comments are opened! my sister is recently married. she, too, has suffered, like me, from an eating disorder. since marrying three months ago, she’s indicated similar things that you mention through this article. she will find much comfort in knowing your thoughts and realising your being okay with the more relaxed lifestyle. AND, on her wedding day, she ironically questioned me if she had a “muffin top,” protruding from the TOP of her dress! urban dictionary seems to exclude that version of the definition! :) i will forward this article to my sister right now! :) xx

Hi Nicole, yay, thank you so much for your kind words and feedback…definitely beats the usual horrible spam I get haha. Glad you like my muffin tops piece, I spent a while on it. I wasn’t sure exactly how far to take it as I realise I’m not that overweight and I didn’t want to offend anyone who really struggles a lot with that issue. I’m happy that someone who has suffered from an eating disorder read it in the right way. It’s really about the pressure us women put on ourselves to look a certain way or how we perceive ourselves…it is quite tiring! :) That’s what I really love about your blog, it’s honest and of course interesting. You’re a great writer! And can’t believe you’re Irish too, how funny…must be where your literary talent comes from haha xx
